1939 – The Second World War
On 1 October 1939, a Day of Prayer was held by the nation at the call of HM King George VI. Next day for five hours German airmen are reported to have attacked our Fleet without causing a casualty to ship or sailor. Has this also been the reason why we have been spared the bombing of our great cities so far?
