For some years, my husband and I ran Alpha courses at the Military Corrective Training Centre in Colchester. We arrived one day and there was only one young man who wanted to come to Alpha. The staff asked if we would like to leave it and return home, but we said no, we are happy to come for the one.
This was a significant time for this one young man. Because it was just us, he was able to open up his heart and share struggles and an ongoing problem with us and we prayed for him. He was healed!
This young man also contacted us when he left the establishment and visited us several times, even joining us for Christmas one year as he would otherwise have been on his own.
He joined us as part of the team at our summer camps and has had the most profound effect on the teenage boys and their faith in Christ after sharing openly some struggles he had with his father and how he dealt with them with Christ. He also led an early morning boot camp which went down a treat!
We remain in regular contact with him. Would this have all happened if we had turned around on that one Sunday at MCTC? *Photo Credit: https://www.pexels.com/@eduard-perez-2158828645
