AFCU Summer Camp 2026, sponsored by the Slavanka Trust and the Cornelius Trust, takes place this August from Sunday 16th to Saturday 22nd.
Summer Camp is an exciting, full-board, 6-day holiday camp for 11-18-year-olds, held at Cobham Hall, Kent.
You may be reading this email thinking, ‘my days of Summer Camp are long past me’, or ‘my children are far too old for Summer Camp now’. That may well be the case, but please don’t stop reading, as you still have an important part to play in Summer Camp.
As you read this article, pray that God will show you who you could send the attached Summer Camp flyer to. It could be family or friends with children, or your local church, asking them to share it within the congregation. Please pass it on and invite someone to Summer Camp this year.
We would also ask that after reading this article, you don’t forget about Summer Camp, but that you pray for it now and in the weeks leading up to it. Pray for all those who will be attending, for the children who have signed up, and for those who are still to sign up. Pray for all the leaders and helpers, and for all the logistics and work that goes into running an event like this. And pray that God will work through this week as He has done so many times in the past, that the Gospel will be proclaimed, and that there will be new life in Christ.
AFCU Summer Camp has been running since 1926, and each year, young people connected to the Armed Forces and their friends come together to have fun, encourage one another and hear the Gospel.
AFCU Summer Camp exists to enable, equip and encourage young people:
- Enabling young people to deepen and grow their relationship with Jesus. Summer Camp aims to provide an environment that enables individuals to hear and respond to the Gospel. In doing so, growing and deepening their relationship with Jesus.
- Equipping young people to live for Jesus and to share the Gospel. Summer Camp supports young people in living for Jesus and in having the boldness and courage to share the Gospel with those around them. Rooted in the mission to see the Kingdom of God extended.
- Encouraging young people to support one another and to make lasting friendships. Summer Camp provides a platform for deep friendships rooted in Christ to form. Where individuals walk their Christian journey together and support one another through the ups and downs of life.
Every day at Summer Camp, there is teaching, worship, and group Bible studies. On top of this, there are a variety of games and activities every day, all focused on having great fun. This is the summer holidays, so we want all children attending to have a brilliant time and enjoy themselves with others.
Summer Camp has been richly blessed by God, time and time again.
Camp Testimonies:
“Attending Summer Camp as a teenager was a lifeline for me. I made deep friendships with others my age who understood what it was like to be part of the military world of separations and deployments. A week every year away from the rest of life was deeply formative. Having my faith strengthened through talks, fellowship and worship, gave me resilience for life’s challenges. Our children have also counted down the weeks each year to the start of camp; they loved it so much too.”
“My daughter loves Camp. She was so shy her first year, but she had seen what God had done in her brother and was keen to go. That year she met a couple of wonderful young leaders who took her under their wing, but her second year was the turn around. She was in a dorm with 3 other girls and they became great friends. Through Camp she has made Christian friends, felt the freedom to worship God in a new way, and received deep prayer ministry for the bullying she had endured at her new school. This has helped her grow in confidence and know who she is in God’s eyes.”
“The Summer Camp team knows how to listen deeply to teenagers, to let them know they are seen, heard, and understood. They pray with wisdom and insight, and we thank God for the deep spiritual impact they have had on both our children.”
As mentioned above, God has richly blessed Summer Camp so many times over the years, and we are extremely excited to see what He will do this year.
