Have you heard of The Forge?

For many years, AFCU has partnered with Flame International, run by Jan Ransom, a longstanding AFCU member, ex-trustee and founder of the AFCU’s women’s ministry. Flame started running a course called The Forge several years ago.

So, what is the Forge course?

The Forge is a discipleship programme delivering spiritual development and prayer ministry training, with three teaching streams covering discipleship, prayer ministry and mission and leadership.

Objectives

  • Develop spiritual practices that strengthen and deepen a personal relationship with God.
  • Bring a deeper understanding of Jesus’ command to all believers in Matthew 28 – the Great Commission.
  • Teach and develop skills and understanding for full participation in overseas mission.
  • Actively prepare participants to fulfil leadership and team roles on mission.
  • Engender the discipline of effective mission teams through Godly handling of relationships and leadership responsibilities.
  • Gain experience in using a range of scriptural tools for ministering in healing and deliverance.

Who is it for?

  • Those who want to grow as disciples of Jesus.
  • Those wishing to develop their prayer ministry skills for use on mission, in their local church, or with the AFCU.
  • Those who wish to have a deeper understanding of God’s heart for mission.
  • Those wishing to go on a mission with Flame International (this is not essential – you don’t have to want to do this, although a number of AFCU members have done so.)
  • Anyone who is seeking to deepen their faith and grow closer to Jesus.

What difference does it make?

‘Joining the Forge last year was a transformative albeit challenging experience. Getting into the meat of the Bible, I was able to understand the spiritual and physical impact of the emotional baggage I was carrying around. Past experiences and memories had become chains which kept me from enjoying the fullness of Christ, but with the teaching and support of Flame, I was able to take these burdens to the Lord and experience His deliverance.’

‘I knew about The Forge for quite a few years before I decided to take the plunge. I’d heard much of the teaching through other channels, such as AFCU, but I was a bit anxious about the prayer ministry/deliverance side of things, specifically, how I would deal with it and deliver it to people in my ministry group. I needn’t have worried. It was led in such a gentle way, and I never felt threatened, though I was certainly challenged! The teaching was excellent, and it was great to go back and do the Forge again, but this time as a facilitator. My walk with Jesus has most certainly changed since doing The Forge; I feel bolder, I have more tools to deal with daily situations, and I feel more able to stand up as a child of God and claim my inheritance! I cannot recommend it enough.’

‘God knew The Forge was the way to set me free in so many ways, including from control and a curse which kept me from speaking out. I needed the powerful worship, teaching, dramas and practical group work to heal, restore me and set me on a new path. The Forge is a prophetic name for the course, and the deeper adventure it offers, and God does a deep and lasting work through it in the lives of those who commit to completing it.’

‘Forge 1 was probably the best teaching course I have attended in 40 years of being a Christian, filling huge gaps in my knowledge and correcting some long-standing errors. It also made me a better, happier person by helping me deal with things I have carried for decades. The programme set me up nicely for my first mission (to Ukraine) – giving me the tools so that God was able to minister to a group of people who needed to receive His love.’
