This testimony was received in the Armed Forces’ Christian Union office in 2010 during the conflict in Afghanistan.
“It is easy for the lads to get hot, tired, homesick and fed up after several months out on operations. Much of the work requires them remaining alert and paying great attention to detail – the lives of many of their comrades depends on them.
I prayed before each patrol and tasking. One day, the lad out front sweeping for IEDs lost his concentration and missed one. The patrol moved forward and sat down waiting for the next section of road to be cleared. We then realised that half the patrol was sitting on an IED! That it did not explode was just an answer to prayer and God’s grace.”
“We had to go to a compound in order to carry out some improvements. We were short of cover for this task and I prayed that God would be with us. Despite the real possibility of ambush or other attack, all was quiet and the whole operation went without incident – praise His name!”
