Lost and Found – Spouse of Serving Military

I started talking to God about it immediately
Lost and Found – Spouse of Serving Military

One of the ways in which I have been blessed by an answer to prayer, which has spoken to me of God’s love and care for me in the ‘small things’ of my life has been a lost and found watch, given to me by my parents (who have both recently passed away) on my 21st birthday.

I lost it at work one day a few weeks after my Dad’s Thanksgiving Service and although everyone had a good look for it, it was nowhere to be found. I walked home feeling quite sad, working through feelings of grief and loss once again.

These feelings led me to journal with God in prayer and slowly over the course of the day I began to move into a sense of bringing it all to Jesus with an open hand as I asked if he would help me find it. I also had the thought in the back of my mind that in the scale of things, although it felt like a ‘connection’ with my parents, there were far more important connections I could hold onto and remember.

I woke up in the morning and felt the sense of loss wash over me again but as I was getting ready for work, I received a text on our group chat with a picture of one of the girls who started work early that day and she was holding my watch!! She had found it outside and it was undamaged!!

It was such a beautiful reminder to me that God is interested in the small details of my life, and it also gave me the chance to share with the ladies I worked with about how it had been a huge answer to prayer.

But that isn’t the end of the story.  Later that year, whilst at the Wildfires Christian conference, I realised that, unbelievably, I had lost it again!! However, this time I didn’t experience the same sense of loss.

I started talking to God about it immediately. I retraced my steps and visited the lost property tent but couldn’t find it.  I felt that maybe I had to let it go for some reason – the loss didn’t weigh heavily like it had the time before.

Anyway, the next morning, I asked my husband if he would call in at the lost property tent on his way back from an early morning meeting – just in case, even though it really would be finding ‘a needle in a haystack’ if it had been handed in.

Miraculously, it was there!!!  No-one could quite believe it, but once again, it confirmed to me that our God is a God of the impossible – even in the things that don’t seem to be very significant so we can keep trusting him in the big things that seem impossible.

It has really encouraged me to be persistent in prayer for those ‘bigger’ things in my life.   *Photo credit: https://www.pexels.com/@gratisography
