One of my sons has known great pain and loss and disappointment. He was still young – in his early 20s – when the sorrow hit him hard. Whilst serving in the Army, he was injured in Afghanistan and the physical and mental trauma was, at times, almost too hard to bear. But the Lord has been his rock and his salvation. He has literally saved his life. Whilst being upheld by the prayers of family, friends and other, unknown pray-ers from the Armed Forces’ Christian Union, the Lord has carried him day after day, with my son often hanging on by his fingertips. Yes, the Lord has been utterly and completely faithful to him and his family, rescuing him time and time again.
The Lord has blessed him with a wife of such faith and strength of character – she is without doubt the Lord’s Golden Girl! He has blessed them both with two beautiful children and, as if that wasn’t enough, the Lord has given my son work to provide for his family. After five years of unemployment, the first job he was offered was beyond his wildest dreams, and it came straight from the hand of the Lord. He has given my son and his little family financial provision, such as they have never known. He has provided rental homes for them as they’ve had to move from house to house. He has put food on the table. Every small blessing so richly bestowed on them leaves me lost for words as the Lord pours out His goodness into their lives.
Thank you, Lord, for what you have done and thank you that you have not finished with them because you have yet to complete the good work in them that you have started until the day of Christ Jesus (Philippians 1:6).
You are the one and only God who answers the cries of our heart. ‘The Lord is close to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit’ (Psalm 34:18). I acknowledge you Lord in every part of their story, both the good times and the bad, because you are eternally sovereign, enthroned in the highest place in heaven and on earth and all things are under your feet (Ephesians 1:19-23).
Thank you, Lord. *Photo Credit: https://www.pexels.com/@ann-h-45017
