Our youngest son qualified as a physiotherapist in 2020 during the early stages of the Covid pandemic. He completed his last clinical placement at Frimley Park Hospital where he had previously worked as a physio assistant.
As this final placement progressed, Chris* had been wondering what to do next. He needed a job, but did not know where best to apply. He knew that experience in a busy London hospital would stand him in good stead to work anywhere, so was edging towards looking at and applying for jobs in a London hospital. However, a commute into London would be time consuming and expensive, potentially difficult when working long shifts and having many bills to pay. There were no jobs available at Frimley Park.
We prayed for him as his parents. God gave us a sense that everything would be ok. We could not see how, but things were going to go well for Chris. When faced with a changing situation we prayed that Chris would have the wisdom go chose the right path and go the right way.
One day at work, Chris’s physio boss began a discussion. ‘What are doing once you’ve qualified? Are you looking for a job? I think we can open up a position for you here … there should be enough funding for a Band 5 physio. You could do a one-year, post-qualifying rotation around different departments, etc…’
A few weeks later, Chris was being interviewed as the only candidate for a post that had not been advertised and had not even existed a short time before. The interview was not a formality: an independent panel needed to ensure the candidate before them was at or above the clinical standard required for the post.
Chris got the job.
The Hospital is only an 8 minute walk from his home. So, he has a very short journey which costs nothing, to a job that was carved out for him – tailor made.
We are in awe of an amazing God who brought something out of nothing and gave Chris the wisdom to walk in this unique provision! We recognise the favour of God in this answer to prayer.
