Welcome, this web page is set out to help you and your friends find information and support for the invisible injuries that you may have received as a result of serving our country in the British Armed Forces. These injuries are sometimes referred to as ‘combat trauma’ and comprise a number of mental health disorders; including anxiety, depression, adjustment reactions, increased use of alcohol and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
We pray that as you use this signposting webpage you will find the right form of support for you personally, and that you will realise that you are not alone. Our prayer is that the information we provide will help you feel more equipped to take a step forward on the journey to recovery and that you will see God’s love for you through the support of the charities and organisations you chose to contact. Please be assured of our on-going prayers for you here at AFCU.
After the Trauma the Battle Begins: Post Trauma Healing
This book is written for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) sufferers and for their loved ones. PTSD is a type of anxiety disorder. It can occur after you’ve seen or experienced a traumatic event that involved the threat of injury or death, yours or others. It includes but is not limited to such events as rape, military combat and war-related concerns, suicide, violent personal assault, robbery, muggings, kidnapping, being taken hostage, torture, incarceration as a prisoner of war or in a concentration camp, natural or manmade disasters, murder, riots, severe automobile accidents, being diagnosed with a life-threatening illness, an airplane crash, a falling building, a bomb blast, random shootings, school bullying, abuse, sexual abuse, gang violence, and acts of terrorism, or unexpectedly witnessing a dead body or body parts. The Rev. Nigel Mumford, a former drill instructor in the Royal Marine Commandos, was born and educated in England. After witnessing the healing of his sister, Julie Sheldon, a dancer with the Royal Ballet, he dedicated his life to the healing ministry. He actively preaches and leads healing conferences throughout the United States, Canada, and the UK. His books include: The Forgotten Touch and Hand to Hand: From Combat to Healing. He lives with his wife Lynn in Greenwich, near Saratoga Springs, NY.
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.
